Decorating Ideas: Restoring Antique Dining Room Tables
Hidden Treasures 1
I’m sure you may have heard the saying, ‘a treasure in your own backyard’. Well let’s take it a bit further, like for instance in your attic, basement, garage or in storage somewhere…covered with decades of dust and spider webs. You have jewels within reach yet you don’t recognize it because they may be disguised as something other than the gems they really are. Take the blinders off and take a look, a really good look!
For years I had the notion that if it was filthy then it was junk. Man was I wrong…way wrong! Much of the beautiful pieces in our home are caste offs of others. In our guest room we had a mattress but no headboard for the bed well guess what it has one now. We had a dining-room table that was standing on its side hiding in the garage and with one look I thought that would make an excellent headboard for our guest-room. Well with an open mind and eyes, recognition of the potential, some T.L. C. and elbow grease, you’d be amazed at the transformation.
Opportunity often presents itself as work. It doesn’t necessarily mean your work, sweat and toil. Neglected things need to be refreshed and beautified. Do it yourself if that is your thing. Or find somebody to do it for you who knows what they are doing.
